John Glossop & Greg Mullane replaced Greg Pierce & Paul Taylor for Cronulla due to injuries.
George Peponis, Keith Harris, Graeme Hughes & Don Moseley dropped out of a 16 man Canterbury team and Gary Stewart was added to replace Hughes, Tim Pickup was not expected to play for Canterbury but made a late decision to play but re-injured his knee in the first tackle of the game and was replaced by Phil Young after 20 minutes of play.
