Peter Boulton & Ron Loomes were late withdrawals for Balmain they were replaced by Dick Jeffrey & Glen Capelin with Mal McMartin moving to the centre.
Alan Tilbrook injured an ankle in the 1st half and he was replaced by Joe Walsh with Jeff Shield moving to halfback, Vic Querin to centre & Walsh into the 2nd row.
