Norths dropped Gary Banks & Jim Schroder from a 15 man team with Toohey moving to centre, Williams at 5/8 & Fairns halfback.

Bob Boland dropped out of the Penrith team with Rod Elliot replacing him in the 2nd row and Russ Johnstone moving to prop.

Ern Gillon fractured his ribs early in the 1st half and was replaced by Bob Mara, David Applebee was sent off with 3 minutes remaining for a head high tackle on Mick Maher.
