Mike Cleary dropped out of the Souths team still not fully recovery from injury sustained in New Zealand he was replaced by Kevin Longbottom with Simms moving to centre, Honan to wing and Longbottom at fullback.
Trevor Levin & Noel Thornton dropped out with muscle injuries and were replaced with Dave Cooper & Mick Souter, Gallagher moved to hooker.
Kevin Hogan replaced John Monie at halftime.
