Elwyn Walters & Paul Sait were late withdrawals for Souths with George Piggins moving from prop to hooker & Bob Broad the new prop, Ross Birrell moved from wing to centre with Tom Mooney the new winger.
Barry Phillis injured his knee early in the 2nd half he was replaced by Bill Noonan, then Geoff Connell sustained a broken rib and was replaced by Norm Thomas.
Urquhart cut his head in the 2nd half and was replaced by Herbie Timms.
