Mal Reilly did not return for the 2nd half and he was replaced by John Harvey however Manly reshuffled it's team with Bob Fulton moving to lock Gary Throroughgood to centre & Daryl Pierce to 2nd row, Bob Fulton then left the field midway through the 2nd half with a eye/cheekbone injury and was replaced by Dempsey Joy.

The full time siren sounded as a scrum was about to pack down. As a result, many of the children in attendance jumped the fence and ran onto the field. Manly won the scrum before Graham Eadie put a kick up in the air which hit one of the children. Tony Quirk fielded the ball amongst the children and then ran the ball into touch, ending the game.
