Match Notes

This was an exhibition game to commemorate 100 years since the NZ "All Golds" toured England to played against the Northern Union, as they were known at the time. Steve Price was the Australian guest, emulating Dally Messenger's guest role in the 1907-08 tour.
Andrew Johns was initially going to play, but he suffered a season ending injury before the match, ruling him out. Darren Lockyer was then next in line, but he too got injured. Trent Barrett was considered before Steve Price accepted the role.
Stacey Jones, Ruben Wiki and Nigel Vagana came out of their recently announced International retirements to line up in this game. The NZRL had also approached NZ Rugby Union Test players Carlos Spencer, Piri Weepu, Ma'a Nonu and Jonah Lomu but all were unavailable due to scheduling or media commitments.
This game used the scoring system that was in place in 1907 - 3 points for a try and 2 points for a field goal.
