Match Notes
David Williams (NSW) was awarded an 8-point try after Johnathan Thurston (QLD) was placed on report for kicking as Williams attempted to ground the ball. Kurt Gidley kicked both the conversion attempt and the penalty attempt. Steve Price (QLD) was concussed with 2 minutes remaining after a scuffle with Brett White, which resulted in Trent Waterhouse (NSW) being sent off by referee Tony Archer. Queensland, having been awarded a penalty, proceeded to kick the ball to NSW on the first tackle in order to apply some aggressive defense in the last minute of play, with the game already lost. Anthony Watmough (NSW) later described it as "an up-an-under for an all-in."
