This match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday the 31st of July in Newcastle, NSW. It was moved to Brisbane, QLD as a result of the relocation of the competition to Queensland from Round 18. On the morning of the game, the state government announced a 3-day COVID-19 lockdown, meaning it couldn't be played. Following negotiation between the governmant and the NRL, the game was rescheduled for the following day with no crowds permitted.
