There were a number of discrepancies with the 1908 ladder as reported by newspapers at the time, compared to the version currently accepted as correct and true by historians.
One was Cumberland's final position based on their byes. For more information, see the notes in Cumberland's season summary.
In 1908, Glebe's final for and against was reported as 107/63 instead of 106/63, despite no scorelines being in question. North Sydney's was said to be 155/67, when the correct figure was 155/66. These incorrect for and against numbers seemed to appear after the two sides played each other in round 4. The other was Balmain. With a couple of rounds to go, newspapers had skewed their against by a couple of points, the final figure being reported as 115 conceded. However, based on match scores, the correct figure is 113 points.
The other anamoly relates to Newcastle and Cumberland. There are many conflicting reports from the time of the actual score of their Round 3 game.
