Some newspapers report Cassell at fullback for Newtown and as kicking the goal while others report Cheadle.

According to the Evening News on Friday 24 July 1908 no Cassell was selected to play 1st or Reserve grade for Newtown on Saturday. The Referee on Wed 29 July 1908 reports Cheadle at fullback most likely scenario is Cassell is a misreport and Cheadle was the fullback.
