One of the best referees I have seen. Also a great bloke.

Kevin [Bilko to his friends] was a talented player and excellent referee with great sense of humour, both on and off the field. He made an enormous contribution, not only to Rugby League, but also to Policing, Masonry and other endeavours.

I refereed with Bilko Roberts in the Easts junior League before he was graded. Kevin grew up in an orphanage in Ashfield. He was a fabulous bloke, a great referee and had plenty of street smarts. I attended his funeral about five years ago.
