Balmain lost Keith Barnes, Ron Clothier & George Piper on Thursday at training then Peter Jones was a late withdrawal their replacements were Sid Williams to the wing with Laurie Moraschi moving to fullback & Kevin Yow Yeh to the centre and Brian Sullivan and Dennis Tutty into the forwards with Arthur Beetson moving to prop and Tutty to the 2nd row, Dave Bolton came in for Peter Jones.
