Halifax were placed into compulsory liquidation on February 9, 2026 by the United Kingdom's HMRC, following a High Court hearing regarding a £140,000 tax debt. Their RFL membership was subsequently revoked, but by March 3, 2026, a new entity was approved to compete in the Championship with a 12-point deduction.
