Match Notes
Phil Smith & Keith Edwards dropped out of the Souths team midweek and were replaced by Claude Williams & Paul Sait who moved from lock when Ron Coote returned to the team after coming to terms with the Souths club.
John Sattler was sent off 2 mins into the game for using his foot in the face of Canterbury hooker Greg Purcell, Purcell required stitches in a head wound and later left the field with concussion and was replaced by Marty Driscoll.
Souths lost Dennis Pittard & John O'Neill with leg injuries during the 2nd half and were replaced by Greg Norgard & Dallas O'Neill.
