Biography

Brilliant Norths' RU centre turned professional in 1911 and played with the fledgling Norths Club. Berecry, who possessed a great fend and was also a great tackler, represented NSW in his first season of rugby league. Touring with the 1911-12 'Australasian' Kangaroos, he scored 12 tries in 12 matches, including a double in Australia’s Third Test victory at Birmingham that secured the Ashes. In 1914 he came out of retirement when the club’s captain and fellow centre Sid Deane left the club for England.

    Thomas Berecry was my grandfather. I have the scrapbook of his tour in England 1911/12. If it was possible to add photos from the scrapbook, I would.

    Hi Sylvia would it be possible to get any copies of your photos especially if you when Tom played for the north Sydney bears we are big fans I’d be happy to pay for all the photos Tom would be my great great grandfather I believe thanks
