Biography
Manly junior was known for his deadly accurate goal-kicking style and an ability to kick in general play with either foot. Eden switched to Easts in 1983 where he felt he had a better chance of establishing a first grade spot at the scrumbase. Finishing the season as the game’s leading point-scorer with 244pts (11t, 99g, 2fg), he was never-the-less a surprise winner of the Rothmans Medal. Eden's time as a fullback at P’matta was not as productive as his early career and in 1988 he ventured to the newly founded G’Coast ‘Giants’ (later ‘Seagulls’) where he established several modest records (including being the club's first try-scorer in the opening match against C’bury) before retiring to concentrate on his law career. Eden was named Chief Executive of the reconstituted G’Coast ‘Gladiators’ in 1996 but the move last just eight days before the club was taken over by the ARL and renamed the ‘Chargers’.
