Biography
Powerhouse forward, formerly a centre with St George in the club's 1966 and 1971 grand final matches, Maddison starred in Cronulla's break-through season in 1973. After becoming the first forward to win the Rothmans Medal (beating Ron Coote by a point), he played in Cronulla’s 10-7 loss to Manly in the 1973 grand final. Maddison more than matched his own with the volatile manly for4ward pack was more content to let his football do his talking. Touring with the 1973 Kangaroos, his strong bursts close to the line made a startling impact in his four Test appearances. Maddison's two-try effort in the Third and deciding Test against Great Britain was a telling factor in Australia's regaining the Ashes. He made just one more Test appearance, against France on the same tour, and played his only match for NSW the following year.

Your Say
E Curb Nottus says: Didn't really ever get it together with St George ... but after transferring to Cronulla, he had his Annus mirabilis in 1973. A great performance in that year's Grand Final was following by selection in the Kangaroo tour and stunning powerful running which devastated the British defence. Never recaptured the lofty heights of that phenomenal form after 1973. (08/05/2012)
Anonymous says: Ken Maddison worked at the CBA Hurstville before professional football (19/06/2017)
