Biography

Former Townsville forward shifted to the centres after joining Manly. Moore rode the crest of Manly’s 15-match winning sequence in 1995 and made his State of Origin debut for Queensland as a winger. Despite being flattened in his first match, Moore was called into the Australian Test team as a reserve for the First Test of the Trans Tasman series. He then took his place in the centres in the Second Test against NZ following the suspension of team-mate Terry Hill in a club match and scored a try in Australia’s 46-10 win in the Third Test. Despite a loss to C’bury in the grand final, Moore was chosen in Australia’s World Cup team but made just one appearance - a two-try effort in the Test against South Africa. Moore was back on the flank in the Sea Eagles’ win over St George in the 1996 grand final but despite a return to Queensland’s State of Origin team in 1997, his season ended with a crunch with a last-minute loss to Newcastle in the ARL grand final. Moore played for Wigan in 1998-99 before shifting to the London Broncos.

Your Say

  • Danny Moore

He guys I just wanted to correct the record on my Australian appearances.
I played in all three test matches against NZ in 1995, the first test I came off the bench late and played at lock.
In the second and third tests I started in the centres.
    Cheers,
    Danny
