Biography
Belmore junior, a professional runner, joined Easts from Sydney's Business Houses competition in 1968. A winger in the club's grand final wins in 1974-75, Mullins was a prolific try-scorer who was desperately unlucky not to have represented at a higher level. He played in a trial for World Cup selection in 1970 but broke his jaw in a tackle and missed selection. Mullins represented NSW in 1971 but was again on the injured list when Australia toured NZ. Sleekly-built but with the strength of a battering ram, Mullins stood a touch over 6' in height (1.9m) and went on to top the century of tries in his decade with the club. In 1973 his chance for Kangaroo selection ended when his jaw was broken after being ‘king-hit’ in a match against Manly. After leaving Easts in 1978 Mullins’ career ended with a series of broken leg injuries while playing in the country.
