Biography

Souths Newcastle prop, the veteran of 24 interstate matches during the 1930s, first represented Australia on the 1933-34 Kangaroo Tour. Gibbs also toured NZ with Dave Brown’s Australian team in 1935 before making a second Kangaroo Tour in 1937-38. He played in four Tests on tour – two against NZ on the Kangaroos’ first port of call and two against Great Britain. The veteran forward came to C’bury in 1940 and took his place in the team beaten by Easts in the premiership final, 24-14.
