I'm not a rugby fan and I'd never heard of Ray Dutton until about 12 years ago when I worked with him for a while. Someone who worked with us told me he was a rugby league legend and i found this hard to believe because you could never hope to meet such a genuine, unassuming, hard working and funny man - he could teach todays so-called sporting legends a thing or two about humility. Greatest respect to a lovely guy, hope he's healthy and happy wherever he is now.

Ray Dutton is my dad and my hero! Just want to say thanks to David who posted the lovely comment about my dad, my dad had a fantastic career but for some reason still isn't in the Widnes Hall of Fame. But he never moans about it, he just loved playing the game. Anyway, he's doing just fine, still loves his rugby, and his darts, snooker, bowls and so on!

Ray Dutton, what a guy, I went on holiday with Ray, Pat and Joanne (ex girlfriend), what an experience.
Ray is the most fantastic, funny, big scary fella you could ever want to meet. The giant with a heart of gold.
    Made me laugh throughout hols.
    Sorry that holiday ever ended.

I can honestly say I am proud to call Ray a friend. One of life's good guys. Always makes time for people. I first met him whilst playing bowls for moorfield club over 7 years ago now. A really lovely fella. Shame his jokes haven't got any better, lol.

I met Ray a couple of times in the 90's and he is a giant of a man with a heart of gold. he could talk the ass off a donkey and could have been a profestional stand up comedian.

I work With Ray in the Mid to late 80s He Ran some Jobs for the Company I work with In & around Widnes
and he even made it over to the North East for a while
Even if jobs were going to plan I could always rely on Ray to make a joke about it & they all got completed
we spent hour talking about Rugby & ( he talked I listened) over a few pints .He would take me back for a bight to eat with his family now and again he was even prouder of them them playing for Great Britain
Man who company I always look forward too

I can't believe the not in the Widnes Hall of Fame
they should have him there permanent fixture he would be worth is weight in gold as the P/R man for Widnes

I played a ARL with when we were both young lads, you could see then that he was class,as they say you can usually spot a winner at the start.Ray and his career went from strength to strength, but Ray has never changed, always a laugh and a joke ready. We have seen some great teams at Widnes,Ray in my opinion would have earned his spot in any of them. He should have been inducted into the Widnes Hall of fame years ago for the credit that he has brought to the town.
