Biography

Veteran Raiders forward, originally from Crookwell, played in the second row in the Canberra team beaten by Manly in the 1987 grand final. A sound defender whose mobility saw him garner many tries during his career, Gilbert was a foundation member of the club in 1982 but injuries saw him miss grand final success with the club in 1989-90. In 1990 his teammates showed the respect he had built within the club when they took a pay cut to retain him under the club's salary cap. Gilbert also played for Oldham in 1989-90.
