Ive got an idea Chris might be the son of my old mate Ken Beattie whom I worked with in Telecom Australia (Telstra) and played footy with for Works Dept in the Qld public service league.
Im pretty sure Ken and Desley had two sons, Stephen and Chris. The fact that Chris started playing with Cronulla in 2000 when Johnny Lang was coach is what made me suspect he might be Kens boy; Langy and Ken both played for Easts Tigers in Brisbane in the 60-70s and were mates I think - I know Ken had a high regard for him.
If Chris happens to read this and he IS Kens son, itd be nice if hed say hello to Ken and Desley for me, if theyre still with us. They were a lovely couple and we were very fond of them but lost touch in the 80s. Theyd be about my age, 70, now; maybe a little younger.
I moved to NSW late in the 90s - still a diehard Maroon tho. Hard to kill the inner-toad.

Sorry, but those are not the names of Chris' parents. His dad is Bev Beattie. I am Chris' cousin. My father and Chris' uncle, was Dud Beattie who played for Australia and selected for Qld and Australian teams.
