Biography

Former Moree forward played three seasons for Queanbeyan under Don Furner before signing with Norths in 1981. Jurd had already represented Country against Queensland, NZ and Great Britain and was quick to make his mark in the Sydney premiership. Mobile for a prop forward, he shifted to P’matta in 1983, playing for NSW as well as in the club's grand final win over Manly. Following P’matta's loss to C’bury in the 1984 grand final, the remainder of Jurd's career was injury-plagued.

    Was captain of my under 15 team at Moree High School where I was his coach. Played as if there was no tomorrow and gave it his all. Played with Bernie Briggs who was part of the winning University Shield team.
    A boy with a big heart.
