Biography
Narromine forward came to Canterbury from Goulburn United after representing Country Seconds in 1977. An incredibly fit and dedicated defender, Coveney made a sharp impact as a prop in the club's semi-final loss to Parramatta that year. In 1979 he played for NSW and although he missed Canterbury's grand final charge because of a leg injury, he was an integral part of the club's grand final win over Easts in 1980. The former State of Origin forward was Wests' major signing in 1984 after the Magpies had successfully challenged the NSWRL's decision to axe the club from the Sydney premiership.
