Steven and his brother were both Wakefield Trinity players during my time as Sec/Manager of the Club. Steven, in particular, was memorable as being the first - very brave - player to undergo a soecial surgery technique which had been developed ion Jaopan by Di Keio - the intertion of a Dacron fibre ligament to raplace damaged one in the knee. His operation was performed in Middlesboro by a fine surgeon - John Anderson - and Steven recovered sufficiently to take the field once more - the second op in Harrogate on Mike Lampkowski was covered by the BBC with Grahaem Garden (Dr) of The Goodies fame looking at the procedure which became a regular op - often for shoulder ligaments after that time. Steven should be remembered as possible the first outside the far east to have had this done.
