At a time when Rugby League was semi professional & players needed other jobs, Bill Roney was unusual.

    He was a medical practitioner!

From memory Bill Roney was already qualified to practice medicine when he joined Parramatta.

Bill Roney was a star of the Sydney Technical High School first 15 rugby union team in 1956.
I next saw Bill at Jubilee oval when Easts were playing St. George. He was running late because of his involvement in medicine. He arrived after the game had started and jumped the fence to join his team Easts on the field.
