Today we are releasing an update to the custom match list tool, which improves the builder form and includes a helpful usage guide. As part of this update, you must now be logged in to build your own custom match list.

This update also includes a number of other improvements:
- Renamed "Referees" section to "Officials" to cover other roles such as touch judges and video refs
- Added new user setting to always show all detail columns on player pages
- View automatically generated set of records on custom match lists
- Brought back streak records (tries and goals)
- Reworked the custom match list URL scheme

The filter on player lists now supports smarter filtering. You can put column name followed by operator then numeric value. EG: tot>=50 will match players with over 50 appearances, or w%<50 matches players in the list with a win rate below 50%. This comes in handy as we head into finals time. Following a rigorous Twitter/X discussion in early April, we've begun to implement changes to the naming conventions used on player's career pages to denote which comps they played in. For instance, Garry Jack's career is now labeled as "NSWRFL/NSWRL/ARL Premiership (NRL)". You will see this appear more as player's pages are gradually refreshed over the coming weeks, and further improvements in this area are planned.

Head to head stats have been expanded on. If you view an upcoming fixture you should see a "Head to Head" link. This will take you to a detailed breakdown of all games played between the two sides in question. This can also be accessed from match pages and each team's Head to Head section.

It's here! Andrew Ferguson & Tim Costello's Rugby League 2023 Annual is now available to read for free. This is the fourth edition, and with 320 pages, covers the details of rugby league around the world for the calendar year of 2023.

Our very own Andrew Ferguson, as part of the Fergo and the Freak Podcast, has today released an epic 3-hour episode titled ”The True Story of the Birth of Rugby League in Australia“. This is a story that has never been told in this type of detail. You will hear quotes from players and administrators of the time as to why we ended up with the professional code of Rugby League.

We encourage you to visit the NRL section of the site, particularly the player list, where you can view a sortable list of the nearly 10,000 players who have ever made it into first grade.
