Biography

Promising Cronulla centre played in Super League’s Telstra Cup grand final before being selected as a reserve in two Tests against Great Britain at the end of the 1997 season. Richardson overcame a niggling knee injury in 1999 to make his Test debut against NZ in the opening match of the Tri-series competition before injury ruled him out of the remaining Tests. Even allowing for his run of injuries, his subsequent career with the Sharks was disappointing and he was Souths’ first major signing for the club’s return to the NRL in 2002. Richardson could not reignite his career and after a season with the Knights, he retired at age 27.
