Kevin Hansen

Rugged Wests forward was the centre of controversy in the 1948 grand final against Balmain when his disputed try won the Magpies the premiership, 8-5. Hansen toured NZ with the Australian team in 1949 but had to wait another three years to make his sole Test appearance as a prop in the Second Test against the Kiwis. He was dropped following Australia's 49-25 loss and failed to make the Kangaroo Tour at year's end. In 1955, while playing in the country town of Manildra, Hansen again represented NSW before returning for one final season with Easts. He passed away prematurely, aged 43, in 1971 after succumbing to leukemia.
