Your Say
Steve Simpson says: I am now 45 years old and I remember a cold windy grand final at the athletic oval in Toowoomba in 1975. I was in the under 9 for the Gatton Hawks, the team of future 1995 Qld player Terry Cook. I was playing full back. That day we played Newtown, That day before any games started (under 9 was the first grand final) Herb Steinohrt came out and walked before both teams. Everybody in the crowd stood in awe at an old man. At my age that all seemed funny until I realized this was rugby league royalty, Herb Steinohrt. At that, I shook the old man's hand with both fear and excitement understanding this indeed was a day I would never forget! (12/04/2011)
