Biography

Pioneer league broadcaster was a member of St George’s 1938 reserve grade team that captured the club's first premiership. The tiny hooker’s career ended because of a kidney injury but he proved to be a natural communicator with Radio 2KY. Along with close friend Frank Hyde on rival station 2SM, ‘Tiger’ Black held court during the 1950s as Sydney's premier league broadcasters. Black died in 1983.
