Biography

Hard-working Brisbane Norths prop, originally from Gympie, joined Balmain in 1969 and played in the Tigers' 11-2 grand final win over Souths. The following year McTaggart was rewarded for his efforts when he went to England with Australia's World Cup squad. The tall prop made his international debut in the 17-15 loss to France in the third round of competition but was injured in the match and replaced by Cronulla’s Ron Turner. McTaggart appeared in three minor tour matches, against St Helens, France (in a non-Test match in November) and France B.
