Australian Institute of Sport and NSW Schoolboys representative, playing 5/8 for most of his junior career he eventually moved into the lock forward position. Stil possessing great ball skills and Paul gallen like toughness made him a great player unfortunately a injuries cut short a very promising career. His last first grade game against the Roosters Bateman was by far Panthers best player on ground until He drove himself one on one into Mark O'meley tearing his pectoral Muscle off the bone. Which was a season ending injury and eventually a career ending. Would of loved of seen this guy go on play injury free he could of been a real superstar of the game.
