Bal is credited with one first grade game with Canterbury in 1989 there is some doubt about this game. He is listed in the Canterbury Annual Report with one game the report does not list players who were used as replacements and the game totals do not add up correctly, there is no evidence that he started a game he may have been a replacement possibly in the round 3 game v Illawarra but again there is no evidence to prove this newspapers & Big League do not show him as a replacement.
