Ex-Manly RU star played in six Tests with the Wallabies and gained dual international status after changing codes to play with Wests. A superbly fit centre/winger, Knight was chosen in Australia's World Cup side in 1972 after representing NSW Colts. Although he did not play in a Test during his career Knight went on to play for Balmain in the mid-1970s before being a member of the Manly side that won the 1978 grand final replay against Cronulla. In 1979 he was sent off after a clash with Wests' forward John Donnelly at the height of the club's 'Silvertails-Fibros' feud and retired at the end of the year.

Is this the Steve that was the trainer at the Tabcorp gym for a little while there in the 0's (naughties). If yes, top bloke and scary boxing fitness partner - after holding the mits for him your shoulders would hurt for the week then you come back the next week for more. Hope all's well mate.

Steve Knight was my PE teacher at the high school I attended when I first emigrated from England in 1980. The school was Davidson High. He was a good bloke.

I trained with steve back in the 80s at Bayveiw gym and also on the sand dunes at palmy. He even came and helped out at newport rugby with his brother in law. Great bloke, fit as , and always had time to help .He even wrote me a character reference to help my teachers college app.

Mr Knight changed my life. Taught me what a real man should be like and how to train hard. His influence and guidance of me as a teenager from an abusive home life helped mold me into the man I am today. He stood up for me and was the positive role model I needed in my life at that time.
