Biography
Local junior came through the grades at Balmain and established a first grade position in the forwards during the 1950 season. Tyrrell played for NSW in 1951-52 before making his Test debut against NZ in 1952. A Kangaroo tourist that year he played in one Test against England in the Second Test at Swinton and in 16 other matches.

Tom was one of the greatest inspirations in all my sport and training also the nicest and most helpful person i have known

He was and always be a hero to me.
I know, by reputation and obvious esteem of his peers, that he was a great player and a model athlete and leader.
I also know, by experience, that he was a great man and beautiful soul.
I should know-I am his son.
