By far the most talented Rugby League player ever. I don’t know why the Broncos would not give him a go in 1st grade. He would have dominated the Australian Rugby League competition and people would have been able to see his brilliance and I believe would easily have been far far superior to Andrew Johns who I personally believe was a special player and deserves everything he achieved except not many people know of the greatness of Paul Iles.

Paul Isles was extremely talented. The sad reality was that he was a lazy trainer & liked to party too much.

I played a couple of games of football for rocky brothers with Paul illes. It was a great honour. He was so talented and so modest. He never had an ego,and treated everyone with respect. A great mark of the man. I have known the illes family all my life and sat with his father gary chatting, all night, on the day of his funeral. I was concerned and ensured that his father was supported at this sad time in their family. Some of the best judges of rugby league talent in Australia all agree that he was an exceptional talent. He played for qld the first year he played rugby league. Twenty years later everyone agrees that he was the best player to come out of Rockhampton. Don't forget rod reddy, Steve creer, and many other players come from the Rockhampton stable. He was a remarkable man. Doug cragg
