Scott was our Captain Coach in the years 1990-1992 and for some unknown reason he wasn't re-appointed for 1993 which saw our club's decline to such an extent they pulled out of the competition mid way through the season, Scott by then had moved onto the Blayney Bears who ended up capturing the Group 10 title that he should have gotten at Bathurst Railway in 1992, a great competitor and missed by all the dwindling supporters of Bathurst Railway.

I played with Scotty Gustard (custard) in 1991 and 1992 with Bathurst Railway. We should of won the comp in 2002, but we were beat in the final by Bathurst Penguins. Scotty was a great player and a great mate to all in the club. He should not have lost his coaching role and we can thank one man for that, Marshall. Scotty was a legend on and off the field. 1992 was my best year in 20 playing league. The other best year was when we won the first divison competition in 1996. Got beat in the first game of the season and won the rest.

I went to high school with Scotty & even back then playing half back he had a great future, his dad Tommy was a Newcastle rugby league referee & one of the best, the whole family were very helpful if needed, on & off the field, was a pleasure playing schoolboy rep league with Scott
