Mick was a magical player, he was my boyhood hero. Cool under pressure, he could put his center partner away in the blink of an eye. I was lucky enough to meet him when I was 10 a week before the 1970 grand final. I will never forget it. To me Micky Reathless was the perfect captain n player. Now some 45 years later I still consider myself a Valleys boy n will be until I die. Thanks Mick

I was a kid when my dad Don (Clarence Ronald Retchless) used to take me to the footy to see my cousin Micky. We always barracked for Valley’s. Now my grandson’s play football. We all live by the bay in Redland Bay. I’ve always wanted to get in touch with Micky and chat about family.
    Regards Joy Larsson née Retchless.

Mick was a smart player. He had soft hands for a big guy and a terrific tackler.
How he was picked to play for Qld some years after his very best football was played.
If Mick Retchless was pulling on the Royal Blue jersey then Valleys were always a chance.
