John Austin Murphy was born January 24th 1929.
In 1948 John played on the wing for eastern suburbs reserve grade in which they won the grand final that year. Also in 1948 he was a part of Bronte Beach relay team who became Australian Champions.
He was picked to play for the 1st Grade side for them and suffered a career ending broken collarbone in round 13 I believe.
I'm unsure of exact dates and details.
He could never play rugby league again but continued to be involved in rugby league and was president of The Entrance Junior RLFC in the 70's
He passed 12 August 2013. 3months After
His wife of 63years.
He is survived by 6 children, 16 grandkids, and over 50 great and great great grand kids.
A true gentleman all an round G.O.A.T Dad.
Hope this info is helpful as this generation of past players should never be forgotten kind Regards, Carolynne George.
