His father (also Nimrod) was a long-serving principal at North Sydney Superior School, and it was after him that the Greenwood Hotel at North Sydney is named. His son (also Nimrod) (who attended Sydney Boys High) rowed for Australia at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952.
