Dennis Bendall broke his neck is a swimming accident at Glenbrook NSW in 1980, and I am pretty sure he passed away a few years ago

Dennis was a fast and strong player, whose career was ended with a diving accident that broke his spine in the 1970s

Denis and Philip are second cousins and both very well. Am currently having coffee with Phil and his wife Linda, daughter Catherine, grandson Leif as well as Mum Harue who has her 90th birthday soon. All the best. Great website. Michael

As at today (31/07/2019) Dennis Bendall is still alive and well and working in retail at Gladesville NSW. I am aware that he still maintains regular contact with Steve ("Stopper") Lavers.

Dennis is a thorough gentleman and quick witted. He still trains hard in the pool and enjoys his lifestyle on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. He is admired by his family and friends.

I born on the same day as Dennis and our Mothers were both Japanese that relocated to Australia. I supported Balmain Tigers and watched him play he was good. I never met the man but my Mother was friends with his. A Rugby League career cut short by a tragic accident.

He was an outstanding rugby league player, good enough to represent Australia.

His capacity to break a tackle was amazing. You had him hard around his legs, next second you’re face down in the mud and his gone.

Dennis is still around and looking strong. He presented jerseys for the japanese moonbears, being the first league player with japanese heritage, at Pioneers Park on the 5th of March 2022.

I had a lovely chat sitting on a sandstone block with Dennis yesterday 29.9.23 at Collaroy. He is in great spirits and, although he is damaged from his terrible accident, he works out doing quite a few laps in the Collaroy pool. He is wonderful company, quietly spoken, intelligent, always cheerful and the nicest guy in the world.
