    Copped the worst bounce ever for a full-back against Easts in pre-season final SCG 1977 with trophy presented by the Queen

    I was a little fella when Mal was playing for the Mighty Bears but I remember Mal as a good player and a good bloke, along with Big Bill Hamilton, et al.

    Back then, the players ran on the field for the love of the game and not for money. Blood and guts punch-up were abounded (no judiciary back then). In addition, the players were very kind to us children and would happily sign autographs and have a meaningful chat.

    Played with Mal in North Sydney Juniors competition. We won a premiership with Mal at 5/8
    Good memories.

    Played alongside Mal in juniors at Mosman. He was was very classy.
