Biography

Bandiera came to Newtown from Innisfail in North Queensland and was graded as a five-eighth/centre. He later developed into a hard-working back-rower but signing with Easts, he unfortunately broke his collarbone after twenty minutes of the 1972 grand final against Manly. Following his retirement as a player, he went into club administration. As football manager of the G’Coast Seagulls in 1992-93, he came into conflict with coach Wally Lewis. Bandiera left the club at the end of that season, shortly before Lewis resigned.

Where is Greg Bandiera now? I played a season with him at Old Boys in Murwillumbah in 1980.
He was a tremendous coach and an inspirational onfield leader. I would love to meet him again one day.
He changed the way I played.
I've heard that he's now involved in Men Of League.
I've been a member there for many years.
Perhaps I could contact him through them.

    Regards, Gary

A very solid player in a star studded Roosters line up. Tremendous defender and always good for some hard yards. Was an import at Easts but was good enough to be considered as one of the Clubs 13 imports in 1975, and in those days you just about had to be an international to do that at Easts.

Greg was also an underrated senior Rugby League administrator. I worked with Greg when he was CEO at the Gold Coast Seagulls club in the former Winfield Cup competition.
