Biography

Riverina product switched to RU while attending Wagga High School. A red-headed five-eighth/halfback 'Nipper' McMullen represented NSW Country on their tour of NZ in 1960 and spent his entire RU career in Wagga. He went on to play in two Tests against NZ in 1962, one against Great Britain in 1963 and another on the tour of South Africa later that year. After spending much of his RU career in the shadow of the great Ken Catchpole McMullen finally came to Sydney to play League with Easts but his career was plagued by injury. He died in 1986, aged 44, after succumbing to cancer.
