Biography

Former Balmain centre, the father of Adam, Ben and Luke MacDougall, played for Wests in consecutive grand final losses to the great St George club in 1962-63. MacDougall, who represented NSW in 1963, scored a try in the 8-3 loss to the Dragons in a muddy grand final match that year.

    Was good friends with Gil when we were young around Leichhardt and Petersham. Was wondering the reason of hes passing.

    knew Gil before he married never knew him after that. We hung around leichhardt a lot along with colin hoole and loui magnifico.
    always regreted we never went and seen him play. We didnt even know good (great) he was. This was before he hit the big time.

    Met Gil in Mick Cronin's pub in Gerringong many years ago. Lovely bloke. Easy to talk to. Nearly fell off my stool when he told me who he was.

    Gil MacDougal definitely played for Warrington the early to mid sixties, was a strong rampaging centre, who featured in a famous photo scattering Castleford players in his wake in a cup tie at Wilderspool.
