Biography

Bullocking Manly winger propelled the club into the 1959 grand final with a barging try to beat Wests 14-13 in the final. Hugo played in two grand finals for the club (1957-59) without success.

    I was only in my mid-teens at the time and a prospective forward, but was always fascinated how a man as big as George could run as fast and powerfully as he did. Be interesting to speculate how he would have gone on the end of the current Eagles back-line

    I have been a Rabbitoh supporter since 1949 and ( except for the Manly V Souths games)I enjoyed watching George Hugo play
    He was fast , tough - a great defender and an all - round outstanding winger
    Doubt that the current day backs would have confined George ‘s attacking prowess
    Thanks for the memories George
