Match Notes

Earlier in the day, two Wigan junior players, Billy-Joe Edwards and Craig Johnston were involved in a car accident. The two players were tragically killed, with the news reaching the Wigan playing squad just moments before this game kicked off. A minutes silence was quickly organised.

Edwards was the younger brother of legend Shaun Edwards, while Johnson was the younger brother of Great Britain test player Paul Johnson.
